Did you know that you we offer a Spring Roof Check-Up? You do not want to wait until your roof is having a problem before having a professional roofing company do an inspection. You roof is an important part of your home and plays a big role in providing protection from the elements and keeping your home safe and dry. But, just like many other things, you need to have a professional check on it and ensure it is preforming at its best! Below is a list of items we suggest each spring you have a professional roofing company check.
Proper Attic Ventilation and Bathroom Fan Ventilation
Attic ventilation is a key component of any roofing system. When correctly done, ventilation in an attic does a great job of regulating the temperature in your attic and removing moisture. This can help prevent mold, mildew, roof decking problems, and early degradation of your shingles.
It is essential that bathroom fans and dryers are properly vented to the exterior of the roof. Check to ensure that all your bathroom fans are correctly vented to outside of your home and periodically check your dryer hoses or ducts to ensure they are crack-free and securely attached.
Inspect Flashings
Flashings around your roof’s pipes, chimneys, roof to wall areas, and others are made to help ensure a water shedding seal. After a proper installation these should be very effective at keeping water out, over time and exposure to weather the seals can degrade. We suggest that you have flashings inspected to ensure they are intact.
Trim Branches and Clean Off Debris
Trees can be beautiful and provide shade in the summer. Unfortunately, tree branches and debris can also hurt your roof. Tree branches can rub off roof granules by scraping against shingles in the wind. Branches can also be broken from trees and puncture your roof which can result in leaks.
Debris falling from trees can collect on your roof and will need to be cleaned off. If not removed from your roof they can clog up gutters and if left on your roof long enough can collect moisture and lessen the life of your shingles.
Trim tree branches around your home and ensure that any organic debris is removed from your roof and does not build up.
Gutter and Downspout Cleaning
Gutter systems collet water that is shed from your roof and use downspouts to direct that water away from your home. It is very common for gutters to become clogged depending on how many trees are around your home. When you gutter system becomes clogged this can result in water flowing down your siding or bricks and possibly water backing up under the shingles at the edge of the roof.
At least twice a year get your gutters cleaned.
Regular Roof Maintenance
A correctly installed asphalt shingle roof is a reliable system that will last for years. You can help extend the life of your roof and help protect your investment with regular checkups.
